 I'd like to imagine that other canine on the surface is about to turn back into a coyote and laugh his tail off at the poor fool he's suckered out onto thin ice ... this definitely seems like a very "Trickster" sort of situation (complete with that "Oh crud, I just turned into destiny's punchline" expression on the hunter's face).
